What is the difference between microblading and powder ombre brows?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattoo that is semi-permanent and can last for approximately 1-2 years. The pigment is implanted into the skin, beneath the surface of the skin, by means of a disposable needle which gives the appearance of hair strokes.

Whereas with powder ombré brows (also known as powder brows, ombré brows or shaded brows) is a cosmetic procedure where pigment is deposited into the top layers of skin. The powder filled brows resembles the look of makeup application or a fresh eyebrow tint. The tail of the brows are darker and as you move towards the front of your brows, it gets lighter.

Combination brows is the best of both worlds; microblading (creating hairstrokes) + shading (to give it more density)

How long does it last?

Microblading and powder ombre brow procedure outcome are considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. This may need to be refreshed every 6-8 months in order to keep lines crisp and eyebrows bold, otherwise they will fade after 1-3 years.

Frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors including the colour pigment used (lighter colours will fade faster)., lifestyle (sun exposure) and if any form of exfoliations come into contact with the treated area.

Note that the final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates.

How long is the procedure?

The procedure can take anywhere between 2.5 - 3 hours, please plan accordingly. This includes before/after photos, numbing and the procedure itself.

What will my microbladed brows look like?

Your eyebrows will appear much darker for the first few days. They will gradually lighten during the healing process. Redness and swelling may also occur.

Brows appear crisp, darker and bold, but will soften in appearance to 30-40% of the colour once healed.

What factors will affect my microblading/powder ombre brows?

These factors may include: skin type, how well the aftercare instructions are followed, exposure to sun, water or skin care products during the healing period and/or certain health conditions.

Sun exposure: the sun will soften the look of your tattoo. Once healed, sunblock SPF 50 should be applied daily to prevent eyebrows from fading as quickly

The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds

The choice of colour: lighter pigments will fade quicker than darker pigments

The choice of intensity: soft/natural density will fade quicker than bold/intense density

Bleeding during the procedure: bleeding will reduce the pigment absorption, as blood will push out the colours

Am I a good candidate?

  • if you have extremely oil skin, microblading may not work well for you. the constant production of oil will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will appear more powdered than you would expect instead of crisp lines. for clients with oily skin type, powder ombre brows is recommended!
  • if you have little to no existing hair, you tattoo will appear more 2-dimensional than those clients who have more hair naturally
  • if you are a frequent smoker, your pigment may fade sooner
  • if you are iron deficient or anemic, your pigment may fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure
  • if you are not pregnant and/or breastfeeding
  • if you are not anemic/diabetic (unless you have medications to regulate blood)
  • If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you must bring this to my attention and send photos of your current eyebrows. No guaranteed results for such cases and must be approved. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discoloured, or too large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will require additional touch-ups for the best results
  • * We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reasons.
